This weekend Mille Johansson drives this year’s penultimate round of the Junior ERC. Together with co-driver Johan Grönvall, Barum Czech Rally Zlín awaits.
The Czech round is the fifth of the year in the Junior ERC, and the second on asphalt.
– The feeling is good. I’m starting to get more into tarmac driving, and got really good settings on the car during today’s test, says Mille.
Mille and Johan come closest from the Italian round in Rome, where they finished 10th after punctures. Even though the surface in the Czech Republic is still tarmac, the difference is big compared to Italy.
– The roads here are narrow, fast and uneven with a lot of twists and turns. So it is important that you really have notes that match 100%, otherwise you will lose a lot of time, continues Mille.
– The biggest challenge for me is to put the pacenotes right, as the surface and the speed varies a lot, adds Johan.
Before this weekend’s rally, Mille and Johan are in eighth place in the ERC table, after a difficult but educational season. In the Czech Republic, ten cars will start in the Junior ERC, where Mille and Johan compete for the Slovenian team IKsport in a Ford Fiesta Rally4.
– We are aiming to finish in the top five, then we will be very happy, concludes Mille.
