This weekend, Mille Johansson returns to the FIA World Rally Championship as he and co-driver Johan Grönvall take on Rally Estonia together with Italian outfit MS Munaretto. The reigning FIA Junior WRC Champions will compete in the WRC2 category in a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, marking their sixth of seven planned WRC2 starts in 2026.
After a difficult ending to Rally Acropolis in Greece, where Mille and Johan were forced to retire following a back injury sustained by Grönvall, the Swedish duo head to Estonia with renewed confidence after finishing sixth at Rally di Roma Capitale in the FIA European Rally Championship just under two weeks ago.
“It feels great to be back on gravel again and at a rally where it’s not just about surviving. We took a strong result away from Rome after a good finish and, above all, confirmation that I’m starting to find the right feeling with the car. That gives me both confidence and motivation heading into this weekend,” says Mille Johansson.
Rally Estonia is renowned for its fast gravel roads, packed with crests and long jumps, making it one of the quickest events on the WRC calendar. This year’s WRC2 field features 23 entries, including championship leader Roope Korhonen, alongside several of Finland’s and Estonia’s fastest drivers.
“The roads in Estonia are incredibly fast and demand both precision and confidence. The key is to find the right feeling straight away and be brave enough to keep the speed high,” Mille continues.
“The biggest challenge will probably be the pace. The speed is always very high here, with lots of jumps and crests, so it’s important to stay on top of the pacenotes at all times,” says Johan Grönvall.
For Mille and Johan, Rally Estonia represents another important step in their development with the Rally2 car ahead of the final part of the season.
“The goal is to get the maximum out of the weekend. I want to build on the pace we’ve shown at times in the last few rallies and finish with a result that reflects the speed we know we have,” Mille concludes.
Rally Estonia begins on Friday and consists of 18 special stages before the finish on Sunday.
