After an intense period of both testing and competition, Mille Johansson and Johan Grönvall are back in Italy for round three of the Italian Gravel Championship. Rally Adriatico will be decided over nine special stages on Sunday, with the shakedown taking place on Saturday.
Mille and Johan continue to compete for MS Munaretto in a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 on Hankook tires. They arrive directly from Portugal, where they completed an important test session earlier this week ahead of the next Junior WRC round in two weeks’ time.
– ”I feel good about it, and it doesn’t feel like too much driving. We basically have a week off between each rally, which is enough time to be fully recovered before the next event,” says Mille.
After two strong outings in Italy – including a win in the U25 class and a stage win overall at Rally della Val d’Orcia – Mille and Johan continue to make progress in their new Rally2 car.
– ”I feel it’s getting better and better with every meter we drive. I’m finding more of the right feeling, but I’m still not quite where I want to be to really fight at the top. Sometimes the times are really good, sometimes not as strong. The goal this season is to get it right and have strong times on every stage,” he continues.
Rally Adriatico features tough competition with 22 Rally2 cars on the entry list. Among the top Italian names are Tommaso Ciuffi, Paolo Andreucci, and Alberto Battistolli, alongside international drivers like ERC competitors Simone Tempestini from Romania and Mikołaj Marczyk from Poland.
– ”The feeling is good ahead of the rally and I’ll try to push the pace even more. We haven’t gone off the road or anything like that, so I know we have more to give,” Mille concludes.
